Underestimated Aerith
——Before the final battle, Sephiroth says "I underestimated you." Who is this line addressed to?
【Nojima】: It's Aerith. When Sephiroth acted to rejoin the world, Aerith stood up to stop him. At first, Sephiroth didn't think Aerith had much strength, but because she kept opposing him, he came to say "I underestimated you"
Aerith's goal is to stop Sephiroth
Back in Midgar, Aerith often seemed to act as if she knew what was going to happen in the future. But when she crossed the wall of fate and left Midgar, she apparently had her memories of the future taken by the Whispers. That said, even on a journey where she could no longer see the future, Aerith's goal remains preventing the tragedy Sephiroth will bring before it happens, and that point is unchanged
The two's symbols are the Lifestream and the Meteor
The confrontation between the world of the Lifestream, symbolizing Aerith, and the world of the Meteor, symbolizing Sephiroth, is an important scene hinting at the showdown between the two.
Matching the appearance of the strongest enemy, Sephiroth, take note of the world destroyed by the Meteor.
