Since the project started in January 2018, many of you have wondered whether we would ever create any Final Fantasy-themed work based on our name. Your wish has finally come true! This song is a lyrical tribute to Zack and Aerith, offering a personal interpretation of the connection between these two characters, while the artwork represents items belonging to the two characters and is strongly tied to the Final Fantasy story.
While replaying the game, we were working on a new single, and when it came time to write lyrics for this song, I was in the middle of Act 2 (Disc 2) of FF7. I was inspired by the story all over again, reliving memories of playing it as a kid, playing it with Ken, staying up late at night at school when I shouldn't have because I wanted to get further in the story! So, in the process of writing the lyrics, I began writing my own interpretation of the love and connection between Aerith and Zack, the two characters who die tragically in the Final Fantasy VII story. As the game progressed, the lyrics I came up with became more like an inspired interpretation of the love and connection between these two characters, and once the lyrics were finished, it also felt like a tribute to them. So I ended up naming the song "For the Fallen," because that's how the lyrical theme came about. In many ways, then, this is a tribute to these characters, a tribute to this project, a tribute to the game, a celebration of the Remake, and also a tribute to the fans who asked us to do something Final Fantasy VII-themed. It's also a small part of my having fun and "booking" it. So, this is for the fans of our project and for those who love metal and Final Fantasy 7! Cheers to everyone, and we hope you enjoy what we've come up with!
